Here’s a rapid fire round of answering some of the most burning questions from my audience.
What’s one money myth we should all stop believing?
"Money corrupts": it's easy to take stock of every single example provided to you in the media and come to the conclusion that it's impossible to be rich AND good, kind, or grounded.
Lets be real, that's not very sexy. I'm not sure I'd watch that on HBO.
But when you start actually looking, putting yourself in rooms with women who are killing it, doing research on female millionaires that are changing the rules of the game - you'll start to see the kind of rich person you can be too
How do you keep things fun in your business while still making bank?
Play is integral to being the coolest rich person I know. Everything is an experiment. A game. A competition with myself.
Why be rich and be boring?
So until I become the kind of rich I want to be, I practice having fun. So that I'm prepared. Practicing having fun isn't the worst prescription I can think of haha
Sometimes I do forget which is why the cornerstone of my work is play. Because my core belief is that money and business get to be fun. And I know when I start taking myself too seriously - that's when I stop making money.
Feeling stuck with my finances - got any advice for shaking things up?
Literally shake it out. Laugh it off. Do a wiggle. It's not that serious.
Creativity is stifled when we are in a trauma response so the first thing we get to do to interrupt the pattern is regulate the nervous system.
Once you've self-soothed, then it's time to journal out new ideas. If the creative juices still aren't flowing, have an orgasm, have a nap, and reconvene after you've eaten.
Be so nourished that it's impossible for you to not have your best idea yet.
Can you share a win where adding more fun to your work really paid off?
I am constantly asking myself, "what would be so fucking fun for me to do next?" I listen to my body and usually what comes up changes my life.
I have gotten podcast guest spots, a job as a CFO, and published in magazines from following my play.
It's also a mindset of "how could this get even hotter and wetter?"
And I say "yes" to whatever the answer is.
How do you deal with the rollercoaster of earning as your own boss?
Ah yes, the inconsistent income that we are not taught how to handle at all. Add it to the list of all the other things we aren't taught to handle 😝.
Get you a system that works for you.
I use Profit First. It allows me to pay myself and my biz expenses consistently even when I have income spikes.
I teach my clients how to implement this system so if you're interested in that, feel free to slide into my DMs!
Looking to DIY? I highly recommend reading the book by Mike Michalowicz.
How do you keep your energy up when business finances get tough?
Frankly, I don't.
I believe that every emotion is vital to my relationship with money being authentic.
It doesn't help me to plaster a smile on face and put on a show when I'm pissed and depressed on the inside about my financial reality.
It breeds resentment in my body towards myself, my business, and my money.
I've been there before and it didn't get me anywhere. It festered in my body and caused long term detriment to my nervous system.
How to build a positive relationship with money?
The key to building a positive relationship with money is having more positive experiences with money than negative.
That starts slowly. And involves a lot of regulation. Depending on where you're starting from, what level of discomfort you experience and what triggers you the most will determine how "easeful" the process feels.
Start to associate your experience of money with fun, calm activities that don't spike your cortisol and brings a sense of serene into your body.
