Most of us have been taught our whole lives that there are just certain taboo topics that you don’t talk about. My dad would always say, “There are three things that are not dinner-table appropriate; money, politics, and religion.” Meaning that casual conversation about money was not possible. You aren’t supposed to bring up money matters outside of business conversations, especially in civil company.

Raise your hand if that was your narrative growing up, too…

And not for nothing, ya know? Money can cause some very tenuous family get-togethers! And I think you should be careful how you go about talking about money with people. Everyone is at different stages in their healing journey with money and in order to be respectful and gentle, it’s important that we don’t force people to have conversations they aren’t ready for just because we are in a better place with money.

That being said, I hope this email will give you the tools and the confidence you need to go forth and have productive conversations that make everyone involved feel heard, seen, and understood. 💸✨

Why is money so hard to talk about? 😭

I think you know the answer to this one. Money is such a charged topic because who among us doesn’t have some sort of trauma or hang up about money in some way?
